My first Lynchburg Virginia wedding of the year was for the dearest couple, Katherine and Michael. They are such wonderful people that are a joy to be around! It was so special to be able to photograph their wedding day. One of they great things about photographing weddings, is that I get to do it with my amazing husband, Jacob. He works as my second shooter to cover special moments of the wedding while I’m shooting other aspects. This is how we were able to get groom’s getting ready photos at the hotel while I was at the church taking pictures of the bride getting ready.
One of the most amazing details of Katherine and Michael’s wedding, were the bouquets. Instead of live flowers, they were made of wooden flowers! I thought it was so amazing, especially the ones which were dyed blue. They were so beautiful. What a unique idea for brides looking for something different to do with their bouquets! After getting ready, Katherine just looked so gorgeous. It truly shows in her bridal portraits.
Michael’s nerves were high before the start of the ceremony. It’s an intense day with a lot going on. But, when he saw Katherine walking down the aisle, he was only thinking about her. Captivated by her, his face says everything. When I asked Katherine what her top requested photo was, she said, “His face when he sees me.” And even though I only show one here, I got FIVE different amazing expressions. I’ll tell you, it’s hard to take pictures when your eyes are tearing up!!
They said their vows in their home church at The First Baptist Church of Lynchburg. The church building is amazing, full of rich woods and beautiful stained glass. We took family portraits in the church and took some formal portraits just outside. I got to see Katherine’s engagement ring during their engagement session, and thought it was so great how the blue sapphires looked with the flowers in her bouquet. If you’d like to see some of their engagement session photos, here is the link to their blog post! Katherine & Michael’s Engagement Session
Details make a wedding magical. That’s why I loved putting together this collage of detail shots taken during their wedding reception at the Betty Anne Colbert Pavilion. Future brides having a Lynchburg Virginia wedding on a budget should definitely consider this as a reception venue! The teal and white color theme was so pretty. The rustic, chic decorations all looking wonderful together! From burlap to lace and baby’s breath to ice tubs for their wine, the DIY wedding decorations were perfect. Their guests were able to take home bud vases to remember their wedding by. And their white to teal ombre wedding cake was an amazing centerpiece of the reception!
Their were so many wonderful, hysterical, amazing moments during Katherine and Michael’s wedding day. Katherine cried when she danced the Father-Daughter dance. The baby’s breath bouquet ended up in the pavilion rafters during the bouquet toss. (That didn’t stop one of the single ladies from running up and grabbing it!) The cake cutting ended in Mike laughing with cake smeared all over his face. And so many more fun moments. I could have shared so many more photos, but I already feel like I risk overwhelming you with all these! There is so much love between Katherine and Michael. It was a joy for Jacob and I to be the ones to photograph the first day of their marriage.
